Coconut has been growing slowly over the years, evolving from our original beach huts in 1992, to our more comfortable cottages of today offering hot water and air conditioning or fan. Each of our cottages enjoys its own privacy, nestled among the flowers and trees of the garden. The colourful Bougainvillea and Hibiscus, Flame trees and Tea trees and the beautifully perfumed Frangipani and Jasmine flowers all contribute to the magical experience of your stay. For those of you that enjoy meditation and yoga quiet afternoons here on your verandah can be an ideal setting.

Every cottage at Coconut is comprised of one bedroom, an en suite wet room and a verandah. Each bedroom has a king size bed and is equipped with sheeted bedding, a custom made mosquito net, and towels. Each wet room has a hot water shower, flush toilet and wash hand basin. Each verandah is complete with a bamboo couch, coffee table and the essential hammock.

Jasmine cottages
Two people sharing

Our Jasmine Cottages have air conditioning with a fan option and are ideal for two people sharing. Built from hard woods from Kalimantan, locally grown Bamboo from Lombok, and roofed with Javanese terracotta tiles they have an authentic ethnic character. Elevated above the garden, our guests can enjoy privacy and the beauty of our garden from a different perspective!

Shamballa Cottage
This is our newest addition at Coconut, ideal for either 2 or 3 people sharing.

Our Shamballa cottage is air conditioned. It has a larger bedroom than the others, ready to accommodate 3 guests with one king size bed and one single bed. Elevated and overlooking the garden our guests can enjoy a restful outlook from the verandah. The en suite wet room, lined with river rock, is open to the skies over the shower area which allows our guests to enjoy the sky at night from an unusual position!

Hibiscus cottages

These cottages are more Robinson Crusoe style, very picturesque and tree house like! Crafted from hard woods, lined with bamboo and featuring alang alang grass roofs, these cottages enjoy a lovely outlook over the garden and stand beside a beautiful Flamboyant tree (which is in full bloom in February and March!) These cottages also have a wet room with the shower area open to the skies so that you can enjoy the beautiful skies day and night!

Papaya Cottages

These are our two lodge style cottages with fan, each cottage ideal for two people sharing. They are built from stone, featuring a white ceramic floor and high teak lined ceiling which combined help keep the room cool. As these cottages are side by side they are good for either independent couples or families who want to stay close together. They are surrounded by Hibiscus and Frangipani and, when in season, our guests can pick fresh mango straight from the tree by the verandah!

The Frangipani Garden Restaurant

While the whole eating experience on Gili Air is a delight with many restaurants located at the waters edge it’s also nice to retreat to the pretty setting of our Frangipani Restaurant, so called because of the abundance of frangipani that grow around the garden. Sitting on your own private beruga (little platform) amidst the chirruping birds and noisy ghekos, vegetarians and carnivores alike can enjoy a variety of foods.

We can offer you Indonesian and local food such as freshly grilled fish, ayam pelecing, gado gado, tempe, tahu, nasi goreng, chicken and vegetable curries all freshly prepared and flavoured, hot or not, as you like it, with tasty spices, tamarind or coconut milk.

Also on offer are some European favourites such as bruschetta, pastas, homemade burgers, chicken fillet, salads and french baguettes with various fillings.

Breakfast is served in our Frangipani Restaurant each morning and includes a thick Lombok coffee or a refreshing rose tea, a fresh tropical fruit salad or juice, eggs, which ever way you like them, or perhaps one of our now famous banana pancakes!

A great way to start your day!
